Amir Pasha Zamani
Postdoc

My research is committed to understanding the complexities of interpersonal relationships.  As a postdoctoral researcher at Duke University’s Social Science Research Institute (SSRI), my work centers on investigating the coordinated patterns of behavior that emerge during human social interactions. Before that, I completed my PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Barcelona and a Master’s degree in Cognitive Sciences and Technologies at HSE University in Moscow. Combined with my background in electronics and control engineering from my studies in Iran, I leverage a computational mindset for modeling and quantifying neural and behavioral patterns in humans and other species.

Vijay Keswani
Postdoc

I work on problems related to data and tech ethics, community-focused AI development, and algorithmic fairness. My research explores interactions between society and automation, and leverages tools from various disciplines–such as law, philosophy, psychology, and economics–to investigate potentially harmful impacts of AI applications and build ethical AI tools.

Cyrus Cousins
Postdoc

I am a doctoral graduate of Brown University, where I studied with Eli Upfal. Before arriving at Brown University, I earned my undergraduate degree in computer science, mathematics, and biology from Tufts University. Known to some as The Count of Monte Carlo, I study all manner of problems involving sampling, randomization, and learning in data science and beyond, with a particular interest in uniform convergence theory and the rigorous treatment of fair machine learning. In particular, I study theoretical bounds on generalization error in exotic settings, and apply such bounds to tasks of real-world interest, most notably in data science, empirical game theory, and fair machine learning.
